Characteristics

The Golf Club Hohenpähl is situated in wavey terrain and from 12 holes it offers dream-like views on the Alps. The fairways run through a park-like landscape with a very old, partly majestic stock of trees. The course demands a good technique because of numerous pools, brooks that accompany the fairways and several sloping positions. You will experience beautiful nature and a lot of quietude.

If you play

Beautiful and exciting golf course.
Very varied holes you never feel like you've played the hole before. Unfortunately already quite dry in June. But the club can't do anything about the weather.
Nice reception and good restaurant with fair prices.

Terrific!

I've been curious about Hohenpähl for a long time. The place must be something very special if it's Thomas Müller's home club, I thought. Today I know that he grew up a few hundred meters away (and down) in the village of Pähl. But he made an excellent choice!

The Hohenpähl golf course is about 20 kilometers from Starnberg, southwest of Lake Starnberg and south of Lake Ammersee, tucked away in the middle of nowhere. In any case, so hidden that after I had missed the exit from the main road, my navigation system was faced with an almost insoluble puzzle: to find the golf course with a detour via the village of Pähl. After an exciting odyssey through forest and gravel roads, I happily reached the clubhouse and wondered who had come up with the idea of creating a golf course here in the outback? Whoever that was, as a golfer you have to be deeply grateful to that person.

The golf course is secluded in a painterly, hilly landscape in absolute tranquility. Each run - mostly through the forest - has its own character and charm, and parallel runs are not known here. It goes up and down with quite a few inclines and a few blind strokes provide an additional challenge. The well-tended fairways and greens (which, however, were a bit slow / dull on the day of my visit) make for a lot of fun. On that hot July day I was grateful for the cart (due to a foot injury), but you can also walk the place. Electric trolleys are certainly an advantage here...

Once you have successfully completed the 18 holes, the "19" is another highlight awaiting the golfer. Clubhouse and restaurant are very modern, but pleasantly restrained in style and very tastefully decorated. What a pleasant contrast to the exaggerated buildings of other golf clubs. This also applies to the menu, where you get a lot on offer for fair prices. Anyway, my curry was excellent.

A day of golf is always something like a vacation day. After the 18 holes in Hohenpähl I feel like after a week's cure.

Demanding, beautiful place

We were there in the rainy August days and had the space to ourselves. Very well-maintained, slightly hilly course with many a challenge. Friendly staff.
