Excellent for visitors

We played this course in June 2012 as part of a tour of the Black Forest and what a gem it is. Tthe staff were extremely friendly and spoke very good English and the Members were welcoming and helpful.
The course was very well presented with a great mix of difficulty (watch out for the 11th). The natural hazards are beautifully blended into the course and the greens were varied but always true. The facilities and restaurant were of a very high standard and good value. A very pleasant day on a wonderful course.

A place with special moments

Played in mid-October. The course was very well maintained and it was fun to play there, although unfortunately it was still raining on the first few holes. Hole 11 is very unusual, a tip when registering (the gentleman there was a bit taciturn) or a note, especially for players like us who didn't know the course, would be appropriate, especially since the tee on 12 is dangerously within reach and from the tee is not visible. A very unusual and challenging course, but one that I would love to play again with my local knowledge! The following lanes are too close to each other for my taste, which can be very annoying when there is more activity and can sometimes be dangerous for players on the neighboring lane if the game is inaccurate. The men's tees are sometimes very far back and in a forest aisle, so you shouldn't risk too much. The restaurant was very nice, the food was delicious and worth the price. We would definitely like to come back!

A little idiosyncratic, but also a little inconsistent

We played in Freudenstadt for the first time, thanks to the Schwarzwald Plus card it was basically free and of course it was a great offer. But if you take the normal green fee as a basis, then I unfortunately have to say that it's not a top place for me personally.
On the one hand, the layout is a bit unconventional and by that I don't even mean the 9 and 11 that have already been described in other reviews. What rather annoyed me was that men's tees were often set far back in a lane, especially on the Back9. You often have to use shorter clubs to get out of the lane safely, but the lanes are too long for that. Furthermore, for example, you would actually have to play the 13 over the 14 against the direction of the game in order to shorten it, which would not be forbidden, but cannot be in the inventor's spirit. On the tee on the 10 you can easily kill the players on the green on the 2, which I almost managed to do with a distorted tee shot. And a 217 m par3? Seriously! I find that very idiosyncratic.
On the other hand, the condition of care was not good when we visited. The fairways were too long and very irregularly cut, so there were random areas and stripes in the middle of the fairway that looked like first cut. Unfortunately, the entire fairway was mostly a first cut and the first cut was rather low rough. With this level of care, every track becomes even longer and isn't much fun in the long run.
The restaurant is actually very nice. Unfortunately, we were not offered cake or other food in the afternoon. They were probably more for members.
If you want to practice inclines and difficult space conditions, you can do so here. The place is anything but boring or monotonous, which is why I'm happy to give it 3 stars. But it's not enough for me to get a top ranking.

Just for pleasure

Played twice, thrilled twice. And the 11th hole? I love it - one of the most original I know. We (4er flight) swallowed at least two balls in each round - but it was worth it. Ladies in the secretariat and gastro very nice. The place was full during the week, which led to a bit of traffic jams, but except for one annoying two-person flight (don't they have friends?) Very nice atmosphere. You meet again and again because of the architecture of the square (and luckily not only with warped balls).

There is joy

I enjoyed playing the course. We had a great place right next to the driving ranch, nice and good hole 19

Is only partially joyful

At the check-in I was told that there were unfortunately many guests today.
The fairrways are sometimes not very well maintained. Some railways would have been better not built. Not every terrain is suitable for a golf course or, better yet, you shouldn't force it.
The 9 semicircular can only be played well with draws. The 11 is, to put it mildly, a joke.
One time is enough - a shame about the wasted day

Good place with nice layout

The place is varied and interesting to play. Good maintenance condition, except for the bad bunkers. Hardly any sand and neglected. Pity!

In order

The staff was extremely friendly everywhere. The place did not overflow and you usually made good progress. The driving range is unfortunately very short and does not allow long strokes.
The place itself is in good condition. The railways cannot convince everyone. The layouts of some tracks are rather questionable. The terrace of the restaurant is not very big and is not really an eye catcher.
All in all, you can play the course, but should dampen your expectations a little.

Very scenic and in excellent condition

Quiet area with mature trees and well-integrated into the landscape lanes. Lanes 1 and 12 with the ingrown lakes seem almost romantic. As expected in the highlands, it is always slightly uphill or downhill and manageable slopes before coming. Where the others of said path 11 (par 4) is the extreme exception - probably love or hate this hole...
The tees, fairways and greens were (mid-August) in excellent condition. The altitude (almost 800) and a light wind leave the place even in midsummer weather play enjoyable.
Some of the paths are narrow and are close to each other so that one finds warped balls again and can play, but must also take much attention to other golfers / consideration.
Without influence on the assessment of the place: no tee time reservation necessary very friendly welcome in the Secretariat and an excellent gastronomy.
Conclusion: High level 4 stars, beautiful place in the Black Forest

Older place in the Black Forest

That in this club no tee times must be reserved, came to us in handy as a great golfer group. The lady at the front desk but has led with her about the exact procedure (HCP proof control with Tel. Demands Home Club) to powerful storage at checkout.
But everything went smoothly the next day.

We can recommend the beautiful clubhouse and good restaurant. So fast and delicious meal service is commendable.

The place is beautifully situated in the forest and quite varied. Every now and then one gets indeed in danger, as greens and tees are close together. Between hole 2 and 3 are also the fairway 10 front nine crosses have fallen rather short and need precision. Who Sliced with the Driver should leave this plug. The 9 was a bit strange (par 5 left to driving range) and was rather poor with us. When 11 we were all in agreement that this hole is barely playable. Desert not high HCP player could submit a ball like this, because they can not carry 130 m play on Green. The holes 13-16 are all rather long and opposite, therefore something rather uninteresting.

But was generally poor condition of the greens to complain. We suspect that a fungus has not yet been completely resolved.

Some part

We recently played this place and for me he has left a mixed impression.
The staff was very friendly, club house and restaurant very nice and everything looked very inviting.
The place had some nice holes, since the club one of the oldest in the area, but also a few cars where the layout is boring to get used to. Some tracks are just opposite on the site, with more space, there is a par 4, in less space provide a long par 3, all pretty easy fitted without special charm into the existing terrain.
Then the hole 11, the so-called "signature hole" that you can not really call the golf course:
A tee shot into a valley over a fence, and then from the Valley of the shot to the green, between any fairway, right forest and left a steep face where the ball is away immediately, if you do not hit the green - all in all, but getting used to.
In the square were several fairways major construction work in progress (piled-up heaps of earth, cordoned-off sections) - a green fee discount, however, was not granted.
The golf club itself, however, is very nice and friendly, we felt comfortable there because the place has us but just do not particularly like, we would not play it again, but this certainly is a matter of taste.
