Golf in the triangle

Played on June 8th, 2021. The 18-hole course with an additional 9-hole short course is located approx. 10 km behind the German border. From Aachen you drive in the direction of Vaals, first a bit through the Netherlands and then into Belgium. And so the players come from all three countries, which can be seen on arrival on the car license plates in the parking lot. The way to the golf course is partially signposted, but there is no sign at the actual access from the country road, so that you can quickly overlook the small junction. You should be careful when entering, as you cross fairways 6 and 2 and expect flying balls. The facility is in absolute tranquility and nature. While the first 9 can still be described as slightly hilly and can be mastered without a cart, there are some places on the back nine that are more uphill and downhill, so that a cart is recommended for those who are not so sporty at the latest. Most of the tees, especially on the front nine, are quite open, so that at least here higher HC should be able to cope. On the Nacknine it gets a bit trickier at one or the other track. For example, at the two PAR 3.11 and 13, biotopes between tee and green must be played over. At the latest here it is important to have a spare ball in your pocket. There are a few doglegs, sometimes with one of the few water hazards, and there are some well-placed bunkers. If possible, you should stay on the fairway, as the rough is knee-high in many places. At the last hole, after a good drive, a small biotope must be played over to reach the green. Overall, the course is very varied, it never gets boring. On the back nine in particular, you have very nice panoramic views of the area around the golf course from the elevated tees. Overall, the condition was okay, although clover and daisies could not be overlooked here and there on one or the other fairway. The sand in the bunkers was a little too hard. The greens were mostly okay, little undulating, but unfortunately far too slow for my taste. The game was busy on a sunny Tuesday afternoon and the parking lot was full. A start time must be reserved at least during core times. Since it is unfortunately not possible to make a reservation via the homepage, I asked by e-mail a week in advance and immediately received an answer with a start time. I then played with another nice guest from the Netherlands. But there were also a few triple and quadruple flights on the way, so that there were waiting times from time to time. Most of the players gave a friendly greeting and the atmosphere was relaxed. The lady at the front desk was friendly. The standard green fee of € 60 / € 70 is appropriate. With the GolfFeeCard International you can save 50% on weekdays. There is a driving range, but only with mat tees, where you can use a ball card to draw 40 balls from the machine for € 4. The clubhouse with the attached hotel is a bit nested. For example, the men's toilet (renovated) is behind the bar of the restaurant. The changing room for the men upstairs, for the women downstairs. By the way, the terrace of the restaurant was very well attended. I can basically recommend the short jump over the border in the triangle and a round in the Mergelhof.

Must have played

Great golf course with a 9-hole par 3 course for beginners great and a nice, varied, challenging and well-maintained 18-hole championship course.
Gastronomy is friendly and good.
If you have played, good for sports players, all others should think about a cart.
