Characteristics
This course is situated within the hedgerow landscape typical of Schleswig-Holstein on a slightly undulating terrain gently sloping downwards to the river Pinnau after which the club was named.
The course is characterised by wide fairways featuring numerous water hazards and huge trees bending down into the fairways. A particular challenge is the green of the 15th hole, which is laid out on an island.

Played as a guest player a week ago, the gentleman in the secretariat was very friendly and competent both on the phone and later when registering, by far not always the rule in the Hamburg area. The course is in good condition, the newer nine are quite open, but pleasant to play, the old course has a little more charm for me thanks to the old trees. The range is good, as is the pitching area. Since the terrace is also neat and tidy, the gastro service is friendly and the gastro prices are fair, I give it four stars. Only a few members could be friendlier, it shouldn't be that difficult to say hello, I don't mean the easy-going pensioner 3er FLight who kindly let us play through.

I play here from time to time as a guest and can only recommend this club. For me one of the best around Hamburg and the surrounding area. Very well-groomed, easy (little savers) and demanding. If you contrast Wendlohe, I would prefer An der Pinnau, since Wendlohe has too much aircraft noise for me. The clubhouse is also beautifully situated on tee A1 and has a beautiful view. Thumbs up👍

We played the combination B / C. "B" is a typical parkland course, "C", nicely said, "open heathland" - badly formulated "the failed attempt at a links course". Similar to "Rethmar Links" or "Bad Saarow Faldo", it looks like a links seat at first glance, but it is not. The place is not by the sea, the ground is not hard enough, the grass is not "fussy" enough, the bunkers are not "potty" enough and ponds do not fit a real links course at all. "B" is visually pretty, "C" a bit sparse. In general, the many high-voltage pylons interfere with the look and can even intervene in the game.
While it is still quite quiet on the "B" holes, on "C" you can hear the car traffic quietly, but constantly.
The course is not easy to play. Length is useful (as usual), precision is helpful to take the vast bunkering out of the game. Water hindered at most from the side, but not from the front. Trees often come into play on "B" - not at all on "C". In addition, the fairways are very wide there. For me, "C" is clearly the easier part.
The greens are very large, especially on "C". Generally of average speed, moderately undulating, not boring. Unfortunately, the grass is way too high on the putt surfaces - possibly to hide the many bald spots (fungal attack?). Thus, the greens are unfortunately badly bumpy.
The first cut is also clearly too high - you often have to look for the balls there. The grass also grows tall and rough on the women's tees - otherwise the condition is OK.
A cart is not absolutely necessary, the space is generally very flat.
I think the regular green fee (75.00 during the week) for this place is a bit excessive - but there are special prices (59.00) which then seem appropriate.
Conclusion: Due to the different characteristics of "B" and "C" quite varied - otherwise good average. Can you play again when you're around - I wouldn't go there specially. Smooth 3 stars. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 6 out of 10 points.)
