Unforgettable round of golf

We played the Glen in September 2023 and enjoyed every hole!
The staff were very friendly and the prices were quite fair at £65 on weekdays. The old clubhouse has its special charm and you can feel Scottish golf tradition everywhere.
Unfortunately, due to the dry summer, the fairways were almost brown and extremely hard. You have to read the tracks carefully and always take the wind into account. Pure links golf! The greens were fast, well maintained and beyond criticism. Occasionally hikers get lost from the coastal path onto the seafront tracks and you should always exercise some caution before striking out.
There are some spectacular holes, in particular 2 sensationally laid out par 3s right on the cliffs. You really can't get enough of the view of the sea and the rocks in front of it. Unfortunately, time on the course passes far too quickly.
Conclusion: You should definitely play The Glen.

Very dry due to heat wave

Glen Golf Club is one of our favorites on our annual trip to Scotland. In recent years it has always been well cared for and beautifully juicy green. The layout and especially the location are beautiful. The last few weeks, the heat wave and drought has unfortunately completely burned the place (greens and bunkers were good as always). I still give 4 stars because you can't do anything against nature and there has never been such a heat in this area. Sure, you could install a new sprinkler anywhere, but that costs millions and isn't usually needed here.

In general, I feel that users on this site should not rashly rate golf courses. Of course you could give 2 stars here, but extreme weather conditions happen more and more often, even in Germany there are places where only the greens and tees are green. Golfers must accept that not all golf courses can look like Augusta or Valderrama.

Just wonderful

I can very much agree with all the previous reviews. I've already played the course 2 times and enjoy the location and quality every time. Ditto for North Berwick and Dunbar if you're nearby.

Dream place on the steep coast

Immediately on hole 1 you climb the cliffs, which offer fantastic views over North Berwick, Bass Rock and the opposite coast on almost all holes.
The incline of the usually wider lanes can be seen, so that the ball loss compared to real links courses is low. Today's strong wind at around 50 km/h is giving us average golfers a hard time: a drive potential of 180m becomes a grandiose 250m or just 120m.
There can hardly be a more beautiful place in Scotland for adventure golfing on holiday.

View 1A

The course itself is a very good Topcliff Links! The views of Bass Rock, the North Sea and the bay is gigantic! But it 5 stars!

Just fantastic!

The place and the view is a true sensation. The Bass Rock, which especially at the 9, a par-3 (for the ladies a par 4), where one has the feeling of playing the ball into the North Sea;
Offers a vision that one almost forgets to play his ball as close as possible to the flag... and everything else that the eye perceives to be a frequently catch their breath. The Glen Course is both a links course, but it lacks some features that make up a typical links course, how deep pot bunkers, undulating fairways to strongly undulating greens despite the proximity to the water. This, however, it is also playable for less experienced cyclists, wind typically British. At the price of £ 30 for 18 holes on weekdays rejoices even the purse. A must for any golfer who is not only a good score from, but also has a great eye for natural beauty.
