Characteristics

On the estate of 64 hectares, well designed into the natural realities 86 years ago, the ingeniously cut fairways require precise play. The beauty of the club, which hosted already 12 times amongst others the German Open, consists in the geographic characteristic of the Rhine-Main banks. The old tree population allow the impression of a vast, well cultivated park.

Nice and well maintained for a 100+ years course

Played on Sunday morning with 2 other friends.

Friendly course, not too challenging with just sand hazard to trap you along the way. But if shot went too out of fairway, into woods, can forget about finding you balls. No water hazard.

Well maintained course

Well maintained, but boring

The lawn is sensationally maintained and in good condition. The fairways are rather wide and easy to play even with a higher handicap.

Due to the proximity to Frankfurt Airport, you can "almost feed" the planes and hear them take off regularly.

The ambience is rather distant and unfortunately corresponds to the typical prejudice of golfers.

Top place with small restrictions

The layout, course maintenance, etc. has already been reported in detail elsewhere here. We played on a sunny day at the end of September 2021. The condition was great. But that also has its price: hordes of busy greenkeepers, tree felling work, leaf blowers, etc. In addition, the planes rushing very low over the square. So you experience a fantastic golf course, which is extremely demanding due to the many bunkers, partly heavily undulating greens and the length of the lanes. On the other hand, there is the extreme background noise, which doesn’t fit this golfing pearl at all.

In addition to the noise, one of the restrictions is the short driving range (felt about 180 meters). This means that many people can leave the driver stuck during warm-up. But then you need it directly on the first lanes when teeing off. A path from the clubhouse to the DR goes directly past the green of lanes 9 and 18. Here you have to be careful that passing golfers get to their destination unscathed. This path was very popular during our visit. Not harmless.

We felt very welcome and also met very friendly members. Those who do not mind the small restrictions will experience an outstanding and always top-notch golf course.
