Characteristics

The par 71 course that measures 6,857 yards is a memorable journey from the first tee to the 18th green. The superbly manicured fairways are undulating, demarcated by mounds, date and palm trees, and most other times by water. Apart from the Creek, which comes into play on at least four holes, several artificial lakes add to the beauty and difficulty of various other holes.

The presence of multiple tees ensures that golfers of all calibres enjoy their day out at the course. While length of the tee helps, the premium is certainly on accuracy, especially with the approach shots as most of the greens are multi-tiered with subtle borrows.

The Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club course sets up for a thrilling finale to a round with its two par 4 closing holes. The 17th and 18th have the Creek guarding the entire left side of the fairway. While the 17th can still be conquered with some smart play, the 18th requires mandatory cerebral involvement on every shot. There is water on the left and a long bunker on the right, beyond which is water again. A good drive will still leave you with a long iron into the tiered and sloping green, which is guarded at the front and right by a body of water.

Fabulous course

We played the course in march 2013. Fantastic overall impression. Very kind staff at reception, first marshall that was not just complaining and looking to spped up people but rather asking if everything is ok and if we were enjoying the course.
Fairways were very well maintained but tough greens (more our problem than the course!), beautiful layout, especially hole 17 and 18 are a stunning finish.
Overall, definitively a must do if you play in dubai.

Bad luck with the greens

Played on January 23rd, 2024, very varied course. A bit noisy as car noise could be heard all around. Fareways and bunkers in perfect condition.
It was unfortunate that day that the greens had just been sanded, making it very difficult to control the speed of the putts.

Gulf on the river in the old part of Dubai

Played on 3/23/23. Probably the oldest golf club in Dubai, with its 18 holes, is very close to the old center of Dubai and, as the name suggests, directly on the Creek within a resort complex. At least on the first 9 you play past some villas. In contrast to some other golf resorts in Dubai, however, everything is ready here and there is no construction noise. However, you play on lanes 2.3, 4 and 14.15 along the E11 motorway, which you can clearly hear and see. But the course makes up for it with its great design and the wonderful location on the water as well as the view of the Burj Khalifa, for example. In general, water is a defining design feature. At lane 2 it starts with plenty of water hazards. At hole 6 you tee off from a pontoon built into the river, it continues with an island green and hole 18 has the river on the left and a very large lake on the right. All this when it's windy and you should have a few extra balls in your bag. The rough is also so dense that when you lie in it you sometimes have to stand right over your ball to even find it. Strategic play is the order of the day, although the mostly wide fairways tempt you to use the driver. The condition was excellent. The bunkers are finely avenged and the greens are top and fast. Another highlight is the striking modern clubhouse in the shape of a traditional sailing boat. Everything at its finest, including the changing rooms. However, there is only one refreshment station on the loop, but someone always comes by with the mobile snack bar. The staff are all very friendly. The game was busy on a Thursday morning but not overcrowded. Often there is a cannon start twice a day, but there are also days with normal start times. We booked the green fee via the VIYA app and paid €169 per player including cart with GPS. This makes the club one of the more expensive in Dubai, but it's worth it. On the round you can tap water at every second lane, there are no longer any plastic water bottles. Overall it was fun to play here and when it's windy it's an ultimate challenge.
