Characteristics
Our Campo Nord is a magnificent Parkland Course full of rolling hills and Olive and Carob trees and has been designed by none other than the Legendary Gary Player. Gary has already given the course the Honour of naming it a “ Signature ” course. The love for detail evident in its design is a delight to every player's heart.
A complete Contrast on the other hand is the Campo Sud, a classic Links course designed by Franco Piras. Marvel at his ingeniously clever design which tempts you, punishes You and finally rewards You!! From the moment that You stand on the 1st Tee with the sea breeze caressing Your face You know that You are about to play what will surely become known as one of the Mediterranean’s most spectacular and technically demanding courses.

The best of both worlds

Depending on what you want from a golfing holiday, the two courses at Donnafugata provide you with all you could wish for. the two courses differ yet compliment to make a trip here more than worthwhile. Starting with the friendly staff who try as hard to accomodate you as any course I have ever played till the moment you finish this is a great golfing holiday destination.
The Links although not traditonal in the Scotish sense does provide a thrilling rollercoast round and 18 holes of stunning demanding golf which will test the entire bag. Starting with the opening par five with water down the left and a dare you go over for the quick route to the green or play around to stay dry. To the 8th from the elevated tee to the narrow landing area then the pitch to an island green. The 14 th the short route land between two lakes or the long way round again risk reward plays a big part to the nature of this golf course. Hole after hole set up like this the bunkering is many but not deep the greens are fast and the wind can blow so perhpas not classic links but certainly a terrific course to play a round of golf on.
The Parkland is a contrast but when played in combination a total delight. Mr Player again melds history, culture and countryside into a fantastic layout no poor holes is not an understatement. One of the most picturesque course I have played and one of the most natural at home feeling golf courses I have ever been on. From the very first hole this course slowly reveals itself and as you head down to the 5th the sight of the stunning derelict Sicilian Villa you know you are playing somewhere special. Playing down lush fairways bordered by bermuda grass through olive groves to large manicured greens this is a stunning place to be hitting a golf ball. in what is a collection of great holes hard to pick one my personal favourites are from 11 through to 15 these are senic, beautiful great golf holes, and as you drive down 18 with its big sweeping dog leg water on the left bunkers and trees right, to a protected green you will reflect it does not get much better than this. This is what golf is all about the game the course the sense of something special. Enjoy
36-hole oasis of calm

We have this resort the end of March for 2 nights visited 2013 (Easter) and recorded both 18-hole courses (parkland and links) on a beautiful spring weather.
Resort was fully booked because of the Easter holidays and the golf courses also consistently well attended. Each course costs for hotel guests € 60 (instead of € 150) and that's more than fair.
Both courses are consistently challenging - but can also be quite mastered by players with higher handicaps with friends. The parkland course designed by Gary Player is bordered by olive trees and partially evil rough. Who ends up in the rough can say goodbye now and again from his ball. The ball drops down so far that you can find it any more. It can also lead to some warmer, partly also because wind.
Me personally the links course by Franco Piras has liked better, even if the only place a links course is actually modeled on the width and vegetation here, because the sea is something far away - you can see it just once at hole 12 and 13 on the horizon.
On the Links course the wind is based on the open range naturally into full play. This should be the game plan. Beautifully landscaped and also ausgefuxte holes.
The condition of the greens and bunkers could be better at both places.
The sand in the bunkers is rock-hard and therefore mostly unplayable.
There are no discounts on the tee signs for orientation, that you hit every now and then at random from and advises the course of the path. This can be quite annoying - especially if you can not see through tops.
The practice facility has not overwhelmed me now. Kept rather small and range balls are also not included in the green fee (not even for hotel guests).
Secretariat and caddy master very accommodating. Free water bottles (2 per player) for the round are standard here. Bags are stored overnight and cleaned after each round bat.
Also the club house with its terrace overlooking the parkland including 9 hole (and partly in the hole 18) invites you to relax, sunbathe and enjoyable decay of the round. Even quite moderate prices.
We will come back, because here you can relax and unwind.

1x dream place & 1x Average Place

We were in November 2012 - with some glorious weather - here. The (physically strenuous) LEFT is fantastically beautiful, one of the most beautiful places with very interesting holes. The PARKLAND is more in charge inside (with extremely many pesky flies - so do not forget bug spray!). In the treacherous grass is found already one or the other ball in the rough or semi-rough not because they disappear in it. Therefore, one should stick to the fairly wide fairway. :-). Why only 3 stars: Unfortunately, the bunkers are extremely poorly maintained, as far too hard and therefore actually unplayable.
