Cork trees there

Another visit in Costa del Golf this time we played 2 courses, this one was the 2nd.
We arrived again about 30 min before game, so no driving again :D, but its really close to clubhouse no need to walk anywhere far. Check-in process was quite fast. We skip the restaurant and went to putting green instead, which I realize was good, cause greens were quite fast compare to other course we played.
We played with another couple and have to say that red tees on 1st hole were kind of tough piece for my girlfriend, not very welcoming :D. Course is surrounded with many cork trees like older sister Valderrama, probably as much as difficult, but for better money. From first tee we realize that it will be long day, there were ladies tournament in front of us. Slow game will kill this beautiful game, and pro golfers are not good example how to play fast. Anyway, love the course, many interesting shots again, would be difficult to say which hole I like the best, but not 18th even I made it over the hole, but did not interest me. Honestly I liked 14th and 13th, but that is my opinion. Course is in great shape and I can only recommend.

Nice (cheap) for relaxing golf after work

So we cannot agree with the previous assessment in any way. It's true that some trains run close to the motorway, but the noise wasn't that terribly deafening. In contrast to most places on the Costa del Sol, here you can walk in a relaxed manner, which is what most players do and you don't need a buggy at all. The paths are undulating, but not steep.
The place is ok for the price-performance ratio. 9 holes cost €40 (without buggy, with pull trolley). The fact that the course can stand up to all the expensive and elite ones in the region is thanks to the two renowned course designers Dave Thomas and Robert Trent Jones. We found it to be pleasantly fair and not strenuous to play. No ball gone. If anyone here complains that the fairways are sagging, they have never played one of these. However, the condition could be better. In some places we would describe it as a golf field, which is certainly due to the hot summer. But the club is excellent for a nice after-work round with local golfers.
The tapas in the clubhouse are authentic Andalusian and highly recommended.

Only for car-noise-loving green-tinkerers

Played end of March 2023, HCP 14

A fairly hilly (cart recommended!) tree lined parkland course. Not ugly in terms of landscape, but largely without highlights. Only towards the end of the round there are a few tracks with nice views towards the sea.

Most of the holes are also rather unspectacular in terms of layout. Water only really comes into play once (lane 17), and you have to look for fairway bunkers. It just goes up and down and the balls often roll to the edge of the fairway because the fairways also run quite diagonally to the sides.

The course is “actually” not really difficult to play – with one exception:
The greens are mostly slightly elevated, with a noticeable rise in the fairway just before the green. The grass is significantly higher on this “collar” than on the fairways. It is therefore quite impossible to let the ball roll onto the green in a dosed manner - you MUST inevitably play the green high. To be precise, VERY high, because the putt areas are extremely fast, and every ball that arrives a little too flat is guaranteed to roll off the green again. Since the greens are mostly steeply sloped, you hardly have a chance of getting a reasonably good score without precise knowledge of the course. If the ball lands on the "wrong" side of the hole, you have to sink it with the next putt / chip - if you miss the hole, it rolls several meters beyond the hole, even if it was played very carefully. Unfortunately, this motif is repeated on almost every track.
As pleasing as it is that a birdie book is included with the green fee, it is disappointing that it does not contain any information about these treacherous slopes of the greens. For those unfamiliar with the course, it is not possible to assess on which side the green must be played - a pity, a missed opportunity.

Incidentally, as on the super-fast greens, the rest of the condition is also impeccable - there is nothing to complain about.

Unfortunately, there is a slight deficiency on track 8 - you sometimes have to look for your ball for a long time, because the track is littered with range balls from the practice facility right next to the track. Annoying and not entirely safe.

However, the volume on the front nine is terribly to complain about!
The first tracks are in the immediate vicinity along the motorway. Only from lane 6 onwards do you slowly turn your back on the permanent noise, but it only gets really quiet on the back nine.

Conclusion: Only something for noise-resistant (or car-noise-loving) inventors who like to occupy themselves longer with the same course in order to conquer the sloping fairways and the treacherous greens. Not really suitable for "just going there and playing a nice round". Tip: If possible (probably not), only book the back nine! Just barely (because of the good maintenance condition) 3 stars. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 5 out of 10 points.)

Great parkland course

The old ratings are completely outdated. Good buggies, nice staff. Very old trees and wonderful views over the sea sometimes distract from the game. With various flights of 4 in front of us, we played for less than 4 hours. Impressive signature holes (17+18). If you are in very good condition, you can do without a buggy. For us, La Canada is among the top 5 around Marbella (in the price range under €150).

Great place with cheap green fees

Very nice people at the reception.
The place is very interesting and the tracks go - as usual in the area - sometimes up, sometimes down. Demanding holes alternate with "recreational holes" in a fair manner.
Highlights are the 5 (rather short par 5, dogleg left, many trees in front of the green), the 7 (par 4 steeply downhill with water to the right of the green), 14 (long uphill par 4 with a beautiful tree in the fairway) and 16 (Par 4 downhill, trees on the right that should slow down the driver).
The finish is spectacular: the 17 is a par 3 over a water hazard that is really long when there is a headwind. The 18 leads over a ditch, and depending on the length of the drive there is 200m or 80m into the green - depending on how you can shorten it.
The restaurant is good - and above all very cheap. The tapas are delicious and so is the beer. Not a culinary highlight but a really good "Keipe".
We played 3 rounds there in January 2023 and the course was in great condition!

Assessment

We (6 men between 72 and 80(( from blue ...)) years with HCP'd from 19 to 27. The evaluation of 2019 is completely outdated. We played just over 4 hours and have La Canada in Ranking after La Reserva de Sotogrande and San Roque in third place Unfortunately, one can forget Estepona, a dying club where the best is the touching secretary.
We will definitely play La Canada again next year.

La Canada in Nov.

Should be avoided. The place was very unkempt therefore.

Varied place, but strong crowds, will not play it anymore

We recorded La Canada Golf on Saturday 5.10.19. The rush at the holes was great, the timing was only 5-7 minutes between the flights and there were constant traffic jams at the holes.

In our opinion, the fairways suffered a bit from such a permanent influx. The fairways were partially dried up and definitely not lush green.

One of our buggies had problems with stationary braking and kept rolling forwards or backwards after stopping, so we had to change it to hole 9 on the Caddy Master. Last year one of our buggies even stayed halfway because of the empty battery.

With these new technical problems of the buggies, the condition of the fairways and the extreme waiting at almost every hole (!) We will definitely not play La Canada Golf anymore.

OK

The course is well planned, sometimes quite close together holes that make encounters with oncoming flights not unlikely. Unfortunately very full, probably because the cheapest place in the area, and unfortunately without a Marshall, prevents the slow game. So we were allowed to experience 6 hours pure nature, so a very superficially maintained and insufficiently irrigated place with many aperes places. Granted spectacular final hole. Can you play, but certainly not a must. We will soon be playing somewhere else...

5er Flight!

Overall interesting from the layout. Varied trains with water hazards and gorges, some pretty narrow fairways. Precision helps enormously. Unfortunately, the condition of the fairways was not optimal. Many brown spots and partly unkempt. Also we had to wait from the 2nd hole again and again, although one had the impression that the players in front of us play good and swift golf. The dissolution came in the end. There we saw a 5er Flight - well, then everything is clear.
With the enormous density of good golf courses, La Canada is more of a second choice. Too bad.

Good place

I played 11/2018, the condition was rather weak compared to other places on the Costa del Soll. The problem here is that every 8 minutes a flight is sent, therefore congestion from the second hole. Unit price (47 EUR online) is cheap but the place is crowded. Nice holes and nice views of the sea. Have often played and certainly again.

Sporty demanding place

Sporty demanding (in the wind and the should always be) and very nice place... above all, finally, no mountain goat field. This is how golf is fun. It was full in November and it came especially to the end to waiting times.
The discount rules on the 17 and 18 should be explained in advance, however.

Interesting place

The course has a nice layout and is interesting to play. Can not compete with other 4 * places for me. A few very nice tees from top to bottom and therefore a few holes from the bottom to the top, but everything in the context and no mountain / valley golf in the sense. If it winds, the place is definitely a handicap challenge, because then the holes are again much longer, but the place is also known. Care condition is OK, even in the middle of midsummer. As others have written, the last few holes are a real challenge, especially the direct way over the canyon at 18 needs a hammer of white and yellow.

Beautiful place-bad condition

In early March 2018.6 places played on site, this was by far the place with the worst condition, the fairways unfortunately impossible although the course has a nice layout and also some challenges that 18 "straight" over the gorge play ...! !!

Varied course

Has a few holes (v. A 17,18) where a further, precise hit over water or ravine is necessary, but that also makes it exciting at the same time. Otherwise a varied place with lots of woody plants. Since the Rough is kept small, we have lost practically no ball. For this greenfee definitely worth a visit!

Much Golf for little money

I can press the previous reviews only. Much operation on the range with coaching locals. On the first nine holes of Flight Flight and steady pace of play. After listening to a number of Club members, so we to hole 17 very good progress and were able to enjoy it properly.

Optical particular, exhibited the fairways spots - this has disturbed while playing but barely. The greens were perfect, fast and sometimes quite tricky. The course is quite varied and interesting. The trees make it tight - balls find good anyway, since it has little thicket.

Cart or trolley? On foot it is scarce ten kilometers with some elevation changes. Hole 18 is again really long, WEII one must bypass the canyon. The haircuts are usually far from the last greens. Conclusion: Trolley for sports, cart for connoisseur

Price / performance is excellent. € 46 18 holes (Cart € 24) I found very attractive. The staff gets top marks for friendliness.

Time no Golf Resort

Played on 19/09/2016. The 18-hole course is in the region clearly the Club of the locals. Here in addition to the one or other tourists mainly play many Spaniards. As we have experienced themselves, also trained the youth here. The individual tracks are designed varied and offer a number of challenges, some blind shots are required. Especially at the 1,17 and 18 are more powerful drives for men and women needed to reach the fairway / green. The place is well grown and the trees forced to stay one on the fairway, otherwise the score suffers. Until the lanes 2 and 3, which are located directly within sight and sound of the motorway, you can enjoy the game in peace and nature. The condition was generally fine if not outstanding and not comparable to the Nobel plants in the region. For the usually green fee of 46 € to the end of September is unbeatable. Start times can always book via the website or by e-mail. A cart (24 €) is recommended due to the hilly surroundings, but not absolutely necessary. In Proshop you were served friendly, for the driving range pulling you look a bit old has come balls at the machine for 1 €. After the round, you can eat on the terrace low in the restaurant before the clubhouse without being however culinary needs. Who wants cheap golf among locals on the Costa del Golf, this is the place, but do not expect Nobel meadow.

MUST HAVE!!!

Have in June 18 seats played one - this was the best!
Tee boxes, greens and fairways ALL dense gepfelgten and short cut lawn. The surprise for us on the Costa del Sol. And the price of 46 euros a bargain.
What if you want value for money this is the place!!!

Buggy not absolutely necessary - but practically

Good place for little money

Right next to the luxury golf courses of Valderrama and Sotogrande Golf Club is La Canada.
Even if the catering is a little sleepy, the range and the golf course is really nice.
If you want to hit a few balls on the range, then you are exactly right. Man proposes Fairway-like grass on a wide range over 100m and this is right on the parking lot next to the Club House.
The course is typical of this region: hilly, tight and in good condition. Especially the 17th and 18th holes are really fantastic and complete the round of golf from here.

Good Golf Course

Beautiful golf course in the immediate vicinity of Sotogrande. Especially the first nine holes are varied and very well laid out. Here and there, however, is heard near the expressway.
The second nine holes are a bit boring and are sometimes quite close to each other, whereby the balls like to fly to the neighboring fairways sometimes. The last hole is spectacular, but for weaker players barely playable.

Condition was excellent and the food was good too.

Overall, the system is recommended.

Enthusiasm

Have played the place 1 day after heavy rains and found it almost dry. Sensational price / performance ratio. Really had fun, we then on the round with member No. 9, an adorable older Hispanic with HCP 19! We were able to communicate in English and wonderfully Diego was really better than any Birdiebook and rangefinder. Place is really easy, but the greens are hard, because fast, undulating and difficult to detect with small breaks. But we enjoyed it anyway. Come back.

Beautiful Place

Beautiful facility: large driving range with grass tee boxes, nice clubhouse, competent and friendly reception, some spectacular scale holes. Really pleasant feeling on the whole area; here also play many Spaniards. Two of them were with us on the round and tried very hard to give us all valuable Tis for the optimal. (Better than a birdie-book :-)). Due to the wind conditions very difficult to play, and the greens are a challenge, but the views compensate. Care status ok. Buggy is not necessarily, although there are already one or the other slope. Price-performance ratio was absolutely.
