Characteristics

Golf at CampoReal is an outstanding five star experience, home to the PGA Ladies European Tour for consecutive years in 2010 and 2011 enhancing this golf courses fantastic reputation.

Leading designer Donald Steel has created a uniquely challenging 18 hole par 72 golf course, opened since 2005. Nestled sympathetically within stunning Silver Coast surroundings, the 6,009m course meanders up and down the naturally hilly terrain. Dramatic slopes and wooded valleys provide a range of testing shots to challenge and delight golfers each time they play.

The front nine holes are tough – 6th hole is the most difficult. Hole 17 is the most picturesque, providing a brilliant view over the resort and the vineyards as you approach the end of the round.

Driver place

We like the course with its height differences! On some tracks you can really let the driver run...!

Golf course with semi-roughs as fairways

We played the golf course in the first week of January 2023. The fairways were neither mowed nor maintained and rather semi-roughs. Unfortunately, that had nothing to do with good golf. Finding the balls was a real challenge, exhausting and annoying. We won't be back.

Condition unplayable due to drought

Unfortunately the place was completely dry in September 2022. There is no fairway irrigation there, so we actually had to play on the bare, dry ground. There were single blades of grass; not even grass stains. Although it had rained for several days in a row, there was still no recovery. From our point of view, the place was unplayable and should have been closed. However, since the green fee had been booked in the package, we went on the round. A cart is recommended there, at least in summer, due to the athletically demanding course. We got our reserved cart for €40. However, we were only allowed to drive it on the paved roads. Since the place was bone dry and all the lanes drop off sharply, there were long distances to walk. The shot went onto the lane and rolled all the way down. The cart was on the path, you could only roughly estimate the distance from the path and made your way down with two clubs and then ran across to the cart again. In addition, playing the ball off grassless, dry ground was not easy on the joints.
The tees and greens were in good condition. Overall a nice course if the fairway is intact. Unfortunately not in our round. There was zero accommodation or even discount due to the condition.
