Great golf course

We played here on August 5th 2013, great course, very well maintained, the fairways, the greens were all you could wish for! Keep the ball on the fairways or semi rough though... Once in the rough, it's gone... An open course little or none water hazards, not a links course any more due to the many houses around the course. Friendly staff, nice clubhouse.

It's just a shame

My first Links experience would spontaneously tempt me to give it 5 stars if there weren't a few shortcomings. But first to the strengths of the course: friendly welcome, nice clubhouse with a nice cafe, great layout that is never boring and punishes every shot outside the fairway with a loss. We played the course with 40-70 km/h wind, which was really a challenge, but also a lot of fun because we weren't familiar with it.
The plus points include the many animals that we were able to see up close, ranging from springboks to mongooses. But we didn't see the snakes that are often mentioned.

But now to the minus points:
Unfortunately the place was in poor condition. Yellow as a grass color was quite common (in contrast to most courses in the area), and the "ground under repair" areas were diverse. As a player you literally suffer when you see that. I also find the development quite intrusive. A fellow player even hit a house directly, but the resident responded with humor. I also found the timing of the halfway catering a bit unfortunate, as we would have had to order before the round to get something within the time frame. So only muffins or a cake remained.

Nevertheless, we will remember the round positively. With a more critical eye, you could only have given it 3 stars.

One of the top 5 in Cape Town and the surrounding area

Definitely a place that is worth it. Well cared for and nice to play. Runs. Gladly again.
In addition to Milnerton, Clovely, Steenberg, WestCape and RoyalCape, further afield, but also beautiful: Pearl Valley, Arabella and Paarl

Definitely playable again

The place, which was in a precarious condition two years ago (my comment from January 14th, 2019), is in top shape again today. the significantly improved water situation certainly helped. In addition: the greenkeepers do a very good job.
The fairways are in pretty good shape again, the greens are great. so playing golf is fun again. people have become more sensible again when it comes to green fees.

the clubhouse has been renovated in the meantime: it has a very cozy restaurant. and the staff is friendly all round.

the place is quite attractive to play, quite wavy but easy to do on foot. too large failures are swallowed up by the bushes / left-hand grass / cacti. Looking for a ball is almost pointless. the view of cape town bay and table mountain are still something for comfort.

Slowly playable again

The course still suffers from the years of drought, but most fairways are now somewhat green again. There are still brown spots and holes here and there, but it's better to lay there. The greens are OK - not very fast, but playable. Only a par 5 is currently (February 2020) shortened to a par 3, as attempts are being made to recreate the fairway. When we booked in advance through a Teetime portal, we paid 290 ZAR, and that was OK in terms of value for money. You can also run the course very well, as there are no big differences in height and the paths between the holes are quite short.

Unacceptable relationships

Pity, actually this place is interesting to play. he is beautifully placed on undulating terrain in the landscape. The greens are very undulating and are difficult to play and the environment fits - certainly a 4 * course.
But in the current state, it's just 2 *.
The fairways are a field (dry or burned grass, if it has grass at all.) partly agitated earth, even in the case of the greens, this is partly the case either bumpy (not mowed) or very fast or very dull - in a loose, incalculable order.
For the greenfee quite expensive for south africa, this place is certainly not acceptable.

Dry withered meadow

We played the course on 12.2.2018. Actually, we had him in good memory when we last played there in 2008. The place was then in a top condition, which is due to the long-held dry period around Cape Town, today unfortunately can not say more. There is no grass left on most fairways. Most of the greens are covered with sand - probably to prevent it from drying out. Then 400Rand (about 25 €) green fee and 350rand for a buggy that is excessive. Absolutely not recommended at the moment

Who liked brown fairways

We played the course last week. It is a links place. Of course he has seen better times. The greens are all green but slow. Disturbing, and no one from the field can do anything about it, are the parched and brown fairways. Although quite appealing but still has brown and dry. If you no longer have a stopper on water-short baths, it's logical to save on irrigation at golf courses. We imagine golf courses with green fairways and unfortunately did not feel good here.

Lack of water and unpredictable wind!

Due to the constant drought, the place is not in good condition, greens but really good. In these conditions, dryness and wind influence, unfortunately no joy to play there. Space desperately needs water, otherwise it will soon lose its appeal. Was certainly once a top resort. Space is not easy to play, off the fairway no chance to find the ball. Blind blows are necessary, in this dryness hardly to guess where the ball goes. Take enough balls, Ballresser Platz!
Played on 18.12.17

Pity

We played the course in early December 2017. The layout is very interesting and tricky. Unfortunately, the fairways and tees are in a catastrophic state. The greens were slow, but ok. In a well-maintained condition, this place would always be worth a round.

Nice place, bad organization...

The plant was in good condition at the beginning of November 2017, although there has been little rainfall in recent months and the Cape region as a water-disaster-area requires extremely restrictive use of water.
The tees and greens were very well maintained, the fairways partly dry and pointy bare.
The innumerable springboks, meerkats and birds on the square offered great cinema.

We booked a start time by phone in advance; when we had arrived punctually at the tee of 10, the starter squeezed two four-flights (who now wanted to play the second 9 holes) in front of us.

Instead of postponing the other launches or rearranging the order, we were asked to tee off very quickly, as were the (two) flights behind us.

As a result, the timing was of course catastrophic, we could not go through liquid because of long waiting times, also played the following flights too close.
Pity...
The second nine holes we could enjoy relatively relaxed.

The green fee was 1490 ZAR, about 90 € for two players.

The course is wonderful and fast to play without cart.

Beautiful Place

We have encountered the place very well maintained. Greens in immaculate condition. We were lucky because it was not very windy that day in early March. The staff in the clubhouse were accommodating.

The opinion of hitTheGreen I can not share. Presumably he / she beginners, because the fairways are wide and hard to miss.

Beautiful view with small defects

The place is characterized by a beautiful seaside location. is great that you can look to many tracks on Cape Town with Table Mountain and Lions Head. The condition of the fairways made this year to be desired due to the drought left the greens, however, were fine. Especially with the wind the place also has its pitfalls. Unless the balls off the train advised they are mostly gone, because almost all tracks are surrounded by bushes and are not some warning signs with reference to snakes probably there for no reason. All in all, a little better than average!

Lost day

Schade, a beautiful autumn day, the one can imagine better.
For example, at the beach, and range balls hit into the water.

Thus a state of fairways mocks the description golf course.
These were exclusively brown, in some places even black.
The greens were fast and very well maintained in pristine condition.
At the Tee (Tea 10) nor 2 Flight were fed us, allegedly played Messrs fours, and came from the 18-track.

In my agency who recommended me this place, I'll tell what first.

Summary: for nor pay money, a joke!

(To) long day of golf in Atlantic Beach

I start at the positives: The layout of the place is quite interesting and varied. The staff very accommodating and the greens in immaculate condition. Also worth mentioning is the living in the facility Wildlife (springbok, turtles).
Now unfortunately the negatives: We have for our round takes about 5 hours, and that although most players carts used here. This probably has to do firstly with the fact that the place is sophisticated and accurate play requires, on the other hand, and probably more essential part but with the start interval 8 minutes just too many people are allowed on the course. The fairways are dry and in some places there is not much grass available. If not just beaten roll the balls to talk to neighboring gorse-bushes.

Pity

We played the course on 11.02.2017. Unfortunately, the condition of all Fairways was a disaster. Due to lack of irrigation, only a concrete floor. We have rarely seen such a bad state, experienced with almost no green space more. Turnovers were high, since little control was impossible. The greens were impeccable.
Although the course design is actually very nice, it was a great pity and gave us no fun.

Tourist playground in poor condition

We had a 2nd tee time at 12:52 and when we arrived at the tee, were still 4 quad Flights ahead. To 13:25 we could then refuse. The place is in a pitiful state. Feels more like a petting zoo with Driving Range. Nice views of Table Mountain, the place and the rumlaufenden springbok are what to tell, but with golf that has nothing to do... Once we had to wait well on every hole and after hole had 9.6 Flights ahead, we stopped for the first time after 9 holes. After all, there was a part of the money back. Therefore, 2 stars.. The round has nevertheless up costs 650 Rand per person.

A must!

Great Place can only agree with the comments made by Rainer. It play here very many South Africans give a lot of tips and are very friendly. We were advised not to go into the many bushes to look for balls as there are many snakes. This week a cobra was spotted with 2.6 meters! Still useable space is a must

Golf with Table Mountain views and Springboks

Played on 01/03/2016. The mostly flat 18-hole resort facility (store can be recommended for some longer routes between haircuts) north of Cape Town is located directly on the Atlantic system plays in my view quite varied. Man playing mostly between the villas, although not really interfere, otherwise in absolute peace and nature. It applies mainly to stay on the fairways as always tall, thick bushes comes into play. Some tracks you have to play from the tee carry over these bushes, what higher HC safe from one or the other challenge, therefore take sufficient balls. If the ball once in the bush, it is mostly gone. Otherwise, there are well-placed bunkers and a few water hazards. The one or the other fairway is narrow, so here is rather the strategic game is required. The place offers repeatedly on several panels / increased markdowns by its spectacular view of Table Mountain in Cape Town and the free-running and trusting Springboks cavorting on the tracks (especially on the 10/21, we counted). One should definitely not forget your camera. The condition was very good with a few exceptions on the fairways. With the disadvantage that were at least on the first 9 still many Greenkeeper at work, but took into consideration the player Especially the greens were true and fast. It is registered as a guest at entrance to the resort and friendly welcome in the clubhouse by the entire staff. At the car park we were picked up by cart and moved forward with the bags before the beautiful clubhouse. We had a start time to 12:44. It will begin in 8-minute intervals. Since we were a little early there and it was not so full we could start playing for two immediately. At line 11, we ran after compulsory Halfwaypause on a 4-Fliht which ran through us play immediately. Anyone who wants to play golf in the South African summer time in peace and without pressure to play here. The start times you can see on the club website online easily and book. The rule green fees with the equivalent of about 32, - € is already low. We received even without to ask for an even better price. Since the place is a little further off Cape Town, it shows clearly the commitment to guests. I can round here recommend without hesitation, even if the way possibly. A little further, and can not understand the one or the other pre-evaluation. Alone the view and the Springboks the trip are worth. After that enjoy the sunset in Bloubergstrand in the bar Moyo and the day is perfect.

Scottish

Place reminds me of a left course in Scotland. For me, a must for any visit to Cape Town. Buggy recommended, as long ways from green to tee off. In wind, a real challenge.

Ball in the bush

Typical South African golf course, riding along the broken homes. Right well maintained fairways often in a mini valley, large easy undulating greens. Absolutely worth playing, very quiet. In the tees are often Büsch overcome and the left and right it has this constant, so enough balls in the bag. Ball in the bush called for the locals a penalty stroke, but the length can be taken along when going to drop on the fairway.

Super maintained

It's true. If you could wipe out the houses, you would often see the beach. Since that does not work, can you enjoy a really excellent well maintained complex prefer. The place is moderate and it is fun to play there. From time to time einmem encounter some Impallas on the fairways. The clubhouse is well maintained as the whole plant. A definite recommendation.

No links course more

The Atlantic Beach Course has evolved from a links course by the strong obstruction alongside the fairways, adopted. The sea has fallen out of sight, you can hear only the sound of waves. Is great views of Table Mountain, which sits powerfully in about 30 km. By wind and proximity to the sea, it is probably difficult to keep the place from drying out. The fairways were partially hard with brown spots. More care next to the fairways could also use the space.
