Lee Westwood won the $3.2 million Ballantine's Championship in South Korea by one shot from Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez on Sunday to keep his place as world number one.

The Englishman needed a top-five finish to stop Germany's Martin Kaymer overtaking him in the rankings and a superb final round 67 was enough to see off Jimenez as Westwood carded 12 under par for the tournament.

Westwood began the final round on Sunday three shots off joint leaders Jimenez, Welshman Rhys Davies and Alexander Noren of Sweden, but five birdies, including two back-to-back, saw him move clear of the field.

The 38-year-old has now recorded back-to-back wins following his victory at the Indonesia Masters last week and said his focus now was on preparing for the PGA Championship at Wentworth in three weeks' time.
