Two-time major champion John Daly will return to play in the Australian PGA Championship in December, the PGA of Australia said on Thursday.
The 43-year-old American will play in Australiaâs oldest professional event for the second consecutive year at Coolum in Queensland, where last year he helped to generate record galleries.
On his last visit to Australia, Daly missed the cut in the Australian Masters in Melbourne, the Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Open over successive weeks.
During last December's Australian Open at Royal Sydney Daly made headlines when he smashed a spectator's camera against a tree after the golf fan tried to take his picture from close range.
Daly, known for his long drives and flamboyant life away from the course, returned to the US PGA Tour in June after the lifting of a six-month suspension, imposed for conduct detrimental to the game's image.
"You think you're going to be out here for life. I took that for granted. I didn't take all the golf tournaments as serious as I should have," Daly said on his return to the US PGA Tour. "But the good news is I can still salvage a great career."
Daly has subsequently lost weight and hopes to reclaim at least a measure of the form that saw him capture the 1991 US PGA Championship and 1995 British Open titles.
The Australian PGA Championship is scheduled for December 10-13 and will be the final leg of the 2009 OneAsia Super Series.
